Happy Leap Year!
Do you have an unusual talent or personal characteristic that needs to be noticed? There’s one book that lists all these unusual gifts. That is the Guinness Book of World Records. How cool would it be to be listed in the World Book? Today’s item is that you are to try to get into the Guinness Book of World Records.
Think that you don’t have anything that you could do? All you have to do is look, there must be something that you’re good at. And think if you can’t break a record, I’m sure there’s a record for the number of record breaking attempts.
Here’s some unusual talents that got people into the Guinness Book of World Records:

Lions and Tigers and Bears. Oh My!
There’s something about Africa that is exotic. It just seems to draw people in by being so much more different than other countries. I know I would love to travel there someday. What would I do there? Well I’d love to go help out a village and really make a difference. Another thing that I would absolutely love to do, which is actually what today’s item is, is go on an African safari.
Everyone should go on an African safari within their lifetime. This would be such an amazing activity and seriously an adventure of a lifetime. Just think, you could see lions, elephants, giraffes, etc. up close in their natural habitat. No bars separating you from the beast, like you’d experience in a zoo. Which I guess may be scary to some, but yet so cool.
If you are planning on going on a safari, make sure you go with a company because there are many dangers to trekking out on your own where the beasts run wild.

Have you ever been in a foreign country and totally did not understand what the locals around you were saying? How cool would it be for you to travel to some far off land and be able to speak the language? For today, you are to learn a different language.
Even if you don’t travel to some far off country I think it’s important to know a different language. You may encounter people who speak other languages right in your own country. Plus it’s a great life skill to have.
How do you go about learning a different language? You could either go to the country and immerse yourself in the language. If that scares you maybe take a course at a school or try online. There are many websites available that will help you learn a different language. The hard part is picking the language.
Are you Afraid of the Dark?
Everyone has their own little bubble that they like to live inside. This bubble is where they feel most comfortable and you don’t want to leave it because it’s unusual and often scary. For today’s item that you must do, you need to do something that you’re afraid of, go outside of your bubble and do something that’s not usual to you.
If this is your first time doing something that you’re afraid of start off small. For example if you’re afraid of talking to new people maybe say hi to someone walking down the street.
For the people ready to take on more of a challenge, if you’re scared of flying go on an airplane.
Just do something that you’re scared of. Then you won’t live the rest of your life in fear and wondering what could have been. Also in doing so you may surprise yourself and find that you enjoy something that you found scary.
And the Oscar goes to…
Yesterday was the Oscars. I must admit I didn’t watch all of the Oscars, but I did catch the last bit of it. As I was watching I noticed that this movie, No Country for Old Men, kept winning all these Oscars. They won Actor in a Supporting Role (Javier Bardem), Writing-Adapted Screenplay, Directing and Best Picture. I never even really heard about this movie until I saw the Oscars and now I’m really interested in watching it.
For today’s item you are to enrich your cultural experiences by watching a movie that has won an Oscar. For me I’m going to see what this No Country for Old Men is about, but I encourage you to watch a movie that has won an Oscar that you wouldn’t normally watch.
Wonder?
The other day I was talking to my friend and she asked me what the seven wonders of the world were. And really I couldn’t tell her. We each came up with different ideas of what could be classified as one of them and really we weren’t too sure if they were man-made wonders or ones found in nature. So I decided to look it up. It turns out that there are many seven wonders of the world. It just depends on how you want to classify it.
There are:
1. The seven wonders of the ancient world
2. The seven wonders of the medieval mind
3. The seven natural wonders of the world
4. The seven underwater wonders of the world
5. The seven wonders of the modern world
6. The seven forgotten wonders of the modern world
And many more. So for today’s item that you must do, you must go to one of the seven wonders of the world. Depending on what list interests you will determine which wonder you should attend. For me personally I would chose the seven natural wonders of the world because they are just amazing.

For the Chocolate Lover
My absolute favorite dessert is Chocolate Sticky Toffee pudding. Now the only place that I’ve had it is at Earls restaurant, but I’ve heard that this dessert is actually English.
What’s so good about it? Well it actually sounds pretty gross. Pudding? But it’s not. It’s like a chocolate cake but inside is a caramel filling. Eaten warm it is to die for and definitley something you need to try which is why it’s on today’s list: Eat chocolate sticky toffee pudding.
To enjoy this dessert you can either go out to a restaurant where they serve it, or try making it yourself with this recipe.
Once in a Red Moon
So today was the total lunar eclipse. Now this is when the earth’s shadow covers the moon. When this happens the moon will appear a red color. A lunar eclipse can only happen if the moon is full. A total lunar eclipse can happen up to three times a year. However, it can only be seen at different parts of the world of those days. For example, this year’s total lunar eclipse could be observed only in the Central Pacific, the Americas, Africa and Europe. This type of eclipse is fine to look at, however solar eclipses can be so bring that they can harm your retinas.
For today’s item, you are to experience a total lunar eclipse sometime. It is truly a sight to see.

With today’s society becoming more busy, more and more people are eating on the go. No one has time to just sit down and eat a home cooked meal. Another problem is the art of cooking is becoming less noticed. I think that everyone should know how to cook. So for today’s item, you are to learn how to cook.
Now cooking does not include Kraft dinner or hot dogs that you boil. I’m talking about getting a real recipe and following the steps. For the beginner maybe take a cooking class or get your mom to teach you one of her famous recipes. Or try this website that I found that offers amazing desserts but are easy to make. For those who want to improve their skills the Cordon Bleu Cooking Institute would be a great place to really refine your skills.
By learning how to cook you can become more independent and impress your friends with your talent.
