My favorite food is pasta. So it makes sense that one of my favorite restaurants is the Olive Garden. Just the fact that the majority of their menu is pasta puts a smile on my face. But the absolute best part of the Olive Garden are the free bread sticks that you get at the start of the meal. They come to your table all warm and garlicky. So for today’s item: You are to eat bread sticks from the Olive Garden.
With your meal, these bread sticks just keep coming. When you finish your basket of bread sticks that waiter will come and give you a fresh basket full. So this is what you do. You wait until the end of your meal and then ask for a new basket of bread sticks and then take the bread sticks home with you to enjoy. Sometimes the waiter will give you a special bag to but the bread sticks in so that you can heat them up in your oven at home and enjoy the goodness there!
Crave…
I love sweets. So when I came across this little store in Calgary I feel in love. The store is called Crave and they sell amazing cupcakes. All of their cupcakes are made right in the store and you can tell because the cupcakes are so fresh and delicious. Then they put amazing icing on top and it is just something to die for. So for today’s item of what you are to do before you die: You have to go to Crave and have a cupcake.
Where is Crave located? There are two located in Calgary. One in Kensington and the other on 17th Ave.
One thing that makes Crave so great are their amazing icing-cupcake combinations. Some include:
Lemon-Lime Twist: White lemon cake with green lime butter cream icing
Crave-O-licious: Chocolate cake with blue butter cream icing and chocolate sprinkles
The Princess: Chocolate or vanilla cake with vanilla butter cream icing flavored with strawberry puree.
Crave not only sells cupcakes, but also cookies and cakes.
Amazing Burgers
A few years ago I was on my way to Mexico when the group I was with decided to stop in at this restaurant called In-N-Out. Now before stopping here, I’ve never heard of this restaurant and was excited to try something new. The meal was AMAZING!! You get huge portions and the price wasn’t bad. Also the burgers were fresh. This is one place that you must go to before you die.
Where are they located? They can only be found in California, Nevada and Arizona. They are worth making a trip to one of these states so you can try their food.
When you go to In-N-Out, make sure that you know how to order.
If you order a 3 by 3: You get three meat patties and three slices of cheese.
4 by 4: Four patties and four slices of cheese
2 by 4: Two patties and four slices of cheese.
One interesting thing about In-N-Out is that you can order as many patties and cheese you want. That means you can order ten patties or 100 patties if you’re really hungry.

For the Chocolate Lover
My absolute favorite dessert is Chocolate Sticky Toffee pudding. Now the only place that I’ve had it is at Earls restaurant, but I’ve heard that this dessert is actually English.
What’s so good about it? Well it actually sounds pretty gross. Pudding? But it’s not. It’s like a chocolate cake but inside is a caramel filling. Eaten warm it is to die for and definitley something you need to try which is why it’s on today’s list: Eat chocolate sticky toffee pudding.
To enjoy this dessert you can either go out to a restaurant where they serve it, or try making it yourself with this recipe.
Pink’s in a bun
You want to eat like a celebrity but not pay a ton of money? Well now you can. Pink’s Hot Dogs is the hot dog to the stars. These are supposed to be the best hot dogs you can buy. It is a family owned hot dog stand and has been running since 1939. Some of the famous people who have eaten here include Celine Dion, Bill Crosby, Snoop Dog and Angela Kinsey (the Office).
This hot dog stand offers many different varieties of hot dogs including one named after Martha Stewart (it’s a good thing).
Pink’s Hot Dogs is located in Los Angeles.
Heaven in a Cup
The best thing that I have tasted that has comes in a cup is gelato! Now some people think that it tastes the same as ice cream but let me tell you, it doesn’t. Gelato is more smooth and more flavorful. Absolutely heavenly.
The best place to get gelato is located in Vancouver, Canada. The place is called La Casa Gelato which serves 508 flavors of gelato. So even if you’re picky, you’ll find something that you like.
Ooey Gooey Goodness
So I love food, and that’s why I have another food item that you have to eat before you die. Their called Tim Tam slams. The actual cookie that you eat is called a Tim Tam which is from New Zealand or Australia. How you actually eat this cookie is called the Tim Tam Slam.
How to do it:
1. Take a Tim Tam (can be found at Superstore in the cookie aisle) and bite off the corners that are diagonal from eat other
2. Get a hot beverage, hot chocolate works best.
3. Stick the Tim Tam into the hot beverage and using the cookie as a straw suck the hot beverage up.
4. The second you feel hot liquid in your mouth stuff the whole Tim Tam in your mouth. If you don’t the cookie will fall apart and you’ll have a huge mess. When you suck the hot beverage through the Tim Tam, the chocolate melts as does the inside creating ooey gooey goodness.

Now if you want to be like a Tim Tam pro you have to do this without using any hands. Sounds tricky but with practice you can do it. This is best done with a bunch of friends as you can laugh at each other while doing it.
Chicken on a Stick
So here’s another food item that you have to eat. It’s chicken on a stick. And you may be able to find this anywhere, particularly at fairs, but the real place that you need to get one just for the experience is at the 7-11 in Claresholm, Alberta. Wow, doesn’t that sound appetizing? Really it sounds really gross, but it’s super good. I myself have stopped many times on my way to Lethbridge at this 7-11 and eaten a chicken kabob and I must say every time I leave there I am satisfied.
How to get there? The easiest way to find directions is by going to mapquest and typing in your home town and then directions to Claresholm. The 7-11 is located right on the highway, you can’t miss it.
Heart Attack in a Bag
Everybody now a days is on a diet. All you hear about on TV is how you can lose weight if you try Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. But you know what I think? Diets are stupid. Live your life to the fullest and don’t worry about if something is healthy or not. If you’re craving something eat it. So for my first item on the To Do list is eat a deep fried Mars bar. I know it may sound absolutely disgusting but trust me it is something you must try. They are so delicious. What it is, is a Mars bar (a chocolate bar) that is rolled in a batter and then deep fried. The deep frying makes the chocolate bar melt inside and becomes a mound of gooey goodness. This is definitely something that you must try. Where can you eat one? I personally experienced one in a fish and chips shop in a tiny town in New Zealand. But if you can’t make it to New Zealand to try one of these, you can make your own using this recipe.
*Warning: Only eat one deep fried Mars bars in a sitting. After you eat one you feel like you have to sleep for 3 hours. That is why I titled this amazing food a heart attack in a bag, if you eat too many you will have a heart attack.
