Yesterday was the last class of sociology of cyberspace, which is the reason why I had to do this blog. With the end of the class, this blog is done. I no longer will be writing on this blog. I want to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who looked at this blog. Without you guys, it would have felt pointless to do. With your help I was able to get the second highest views of my class which means that I did in fact get the bonus marks. YEAH!!

I hope you enjoyed my blog. Thank you again for taking the time out of your day to look at it!

Lazy Days of Summer

Well this is the last week of classes and all I have on my mind is the summer. I love summer. The hot days, bright sun and enjoying not having to study for tests. But for most university students, summer means work. Get a job to make enough money to last for the upcoming year. So that’s my plan for the summer, to work. But I think everyone needs to spend the summer doing things that they like to do. So for today’s item: You are to have one amazing summer where you’re not stressed out and you do all the things you enjoy.

If you can’t think of things to do during the summer, I say remember back to when you were a kid and what did you like to do in the summertime? Here’s a list of things that I want to do this summer.

1. Go on roadtrips

2. Go camping

3. Slip ‘n Slide down in my backyard

4. Meet new people

5. Reconnect with old friends

6. Laugh often

7. Dance in the rain

8. Have an amazing time in Brazil

The Open Sea

I didn’t see the ocean until I was 16 years old. It was during a trip to Mexico that I was actually able to put my toes in the ocean and say that I have visited an ocean. The reason why it took me so long to actually experience the ocean was the fact that I don’t live anywhere near an ocean. It takes a good 12 hour drive to get to the closest ocean and I had no reason to travel there. Going and seeing the ocean is an amazing thing and most definitely something everyone needs to experience. So for today’s item: You are to go visit the ocean.

Something about the ocean just intrigues me. I love just how huge it is and the fact that so many different creatures live inside it. Also I love the mystery of it. We can look out at the ocean, yet don’t really know what’s going on underneath the surface.

There are so many things that you can do at the ocean. You can play in the sand, go swimming, snorkeling, surfing, sailing, etc. I just wish I lived closer to an ocean so I could visit it more often.

Yesterday were the Juno’s and even though I never really watched the Juno’s in the past, this year was different. There were actually some good people that attended the event, people I actually knew! But would I want to attend the Juno’s? Probably not, because I don’t know most of the artists and I don’t think that it would be the best time. However, I think that everyone needs to go to a concert sometime in their life. For today’s item: Attend a concert of your favorite artist.

There is a problem with this though. What if your favorite band doesn’t come to your city? Well I think that’s an excuse for a road trip with your friends! How much fun would that be? Driving to a different city, share some laughs with your friends and then go watch your favorite band? I think it is a must do.

Colourful Sky

Have you ever just stopped and thought about how amazing the world around you is? Stop and look around you; smell the roses. I think people today don’t take enough time just to relax and appreciate the world around them. One thing that I find truly find amazing at the Northern Lights. So for today’s item: You are to experience the Northern Lights.

The Northern Lights, or also called Aurora Borealis, are usually seen at night in the polar regions. They have been known to change the sky colours like green, red, blue and yellow. They are an amazing sight and something that everyone should experience.

If you have been keeping up with my blog you would know that I love doing anything that’s extreme. I love that pump of adrenaline flowing through my veins. One thing that I have always wanted to do, yet never had to the chance to do is go zip lining. I’ve seen many shows that feature zip lining and I think it would so fun to do. So for today’s item: You are to go zip lining.

A zip line is basically a piece of wire that is attached at two places, one end higher than the other. And then what you do is you hold on, or are attached somehow to the wire and swing from one end to the other. Zip lines take many forms, some are less extreme which include the ones found in playgrounds. But some can be quite extreme including ones found in rain forests. I want to go on one found in the rain forest.

Here is a video of the world’s tallest, fastest and longest zip line, the ProNutral Zip. It is found in Sun City, South Africa. You can reach a maximum speed of 160 km/hr on this thing.

In the Audience

Have you ever been sitting at home, watching a talk show, wishing that you were there getting all that free stuff that they were giving away? Or else wishing that you could be there to watch your favorite singer perform live on that talk show? I know I have. Every year when Oprah’s Favorite Things show comes on I just wish to be in that audience taking home thousands of dollars of merchandise. But instead here I am sitting at home. So for today’s item: You are to be part of the audience of a talk show.

Now you may not be so lucky to be part of the audience of Oprah’s Favorite Things, since tickets for her show are sold out for years to come and you never know when her Favorite Things show will happen. But there are many other talk shows that you can be in the audience of and get free stuff. For example Ellen Degeneres gives away tons of stuff; one time she even gave away a cruise to each member of the audience.

Even if the time that you go be part of the audience they don’t give away anything, just the chance to be in the audience would be something memorable.

Prank Patrol

Happy April Fools Day! Now I love a good prank, either played on me, or me playing it on someone else. The best pranks I think are the ones that you don’t expect. You have to be sneaky about it and make sure that no one knows it’s coming. So for today item: You are to play prank on someone, if not today on April Fools Day than on any other day of the year.

Now there are ethics to playing pranks on people.

1. Make sure that when you play the prank, the person that you are pranking is in the right spirits. Make sure that the person didn’t just have their dog die or just lost their job, etc.

2. Don’t wreck their property. It’s okay to cause some harm to their property such as toilet papering their house, but don’t go smashing their windows.

The best prank that I’ve ever seen, and actually took part in was the newspapering of my youth pastor’s office. Me, along with 8 other people decided to wrap everything in his office in newspaper. This meant that we individually wrapped his books, clock, even couches. It was great and he was not expecting it. Here’s a video of the prank.

When you’re here you’re family

My favorite food is pasta. So it makes sense that one of my favorite restaurants is the Olive Garden. Just the fact that the majority of their menu is pasta puts a smile on my face. But the absolute best part of the Olive Garden are the free bread sticks that you get at the start of the meal. They come to your table all warm and garlicky. So for today’s item: You are to eat bread sticks from the Olive Garden.

With your meal, these bread sticks just keep coming. When you finish your basket of bread sticks that waiter will come and give you a fresh basket full. So this is what you do. You wait until the end of your meal and then ask for a new basket of bread sticks and then take the bread sticks home with you to enjoy. Sometimes the waiter will give you a special bag to but the bread sticks in so that you can heat them up in your oven at home and enjoy the goodness there!

Get to Know the Family

So lately I’ve been thinking about the origins of where my family has come from. And in reality I don’t know much about it. I know that a lot of my family is from Saskatchewan, but for my distant relatives, I have no idea. I don’t know if we came from Scotland, Ireland or where. I don’t even know their names or anything about them. So for today’s item: You are to learn more about your family and where they came from.

Some great websites to try to find out where your ancestors are from include ancestry.ca (specializes in Canadian families), Ancestor Search, and Find your Family Tree. Some sites cost money, but if you look around there are free ones out there.

So do some digging and find out what your roots truly are.
